Organised by BTCA (Bayram Turkish Cultural Association), the Anatolian Turkish Festival is a cultural and an historical event that includes exhibitions, food, art craft and performances. Thousands of people from NSW and Australia visit this festival each year. In 2014, the 3rd Anatolian Festival was held on two days at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour on March the 1st and the 2nd 2014.
Visit to Turkish Consulate General in Sydney
On May the 28th, 2014, the Australian Relief Organisation officials paid a visit to the Turkish Consulate General in Sydney.
During the visit, Consul General of Republic of Turkey to Sydney Dr. Seyda Hanbay Arca, Republic of Turkey Central Bank Sydney Economic Attaché Hasan Selcuk Sacci, ARO CEO Cihan Tumen and ARO advisor Rifat Akpinar were present. At the meeting, ARO officials congratulated the Consul General on her new role and wished her every success. Later in the meeting, Consul General was also briefed about the organisation’s objectives and past activities; including iftars, food packs, qurban appeals, visits to Indonesian orphanages and nursing homes, as well as the flood appeal to Cambodia. Also mentioned in the meeting is that the organisation is currently running a number of projects; including the Bosnian humanitarian appeal, the Soma mining explosion appeal and 2014 Ramadan Appeal. During the meeting, ARO officials stressed their determination in launching new local projects soon, including hospital, aged care centre, and rehab centre visits, foster care parenthood and mentoring programs for alcohol and substance abuse.
Visit to Auburn Council
On June the 5th 2014, the Australian Relief Organisation officials organised a visit to the Auburn Council.
At the meeting, Auburn Mayor Hicham Zraika, Auburn City Councillor Semra Batik, ARO CEO Cihan Tumen and ARO volunteer Hamit Yolcu were present.
At the meeting, ARO officials were briefed by the Auburn Mayor about activities of the Municipality and the recent environmental changes.
In return, ARO officials outlined the objectives and activities of ARO to Auburn Council members.
During the meeting, ARO officials mentioned to Mayor Zraika that they will soon start institutional visits (in the context of the public visitor’s scheme) to hospitals and nursing homes within the Auburn Council area.
MEFF (Multi-Cultural Eid Festival & Fair)
Organised by MEFF (Multicultural Eid Festival & Fair) committee, the MEFF is an annual Eid festival fair which includes exhibition, food, art craft and performances.
On the 10th August 2014 more than 10,000 people visited the festival at the Fairﬁeld Showground.
Our organisation participated and run a stall to increase public awareness about our projects. We thank our volunteers who assisted us in representing our operations and raising funds by selling charitable merchandise on the day.
Qurban Certificate Ceremony
On the 8th November 2014, with over 70 guests attending for ARO monthly breakfast a pleasant certificate giving ceremony was orgnisaed after the breakfast to thank those who performed well in our qurban campaign and the volunteers who participated in collection and distribution of qurbans.
