Cambodia Youth Center Computer Lab Project Delivered

Kampong Cham Youth Center is an important social initiative that came to life in November 2015 by joint efforts of our local partner in Cambodia; Mekong Charity and Australian Relief Organisation.

Located in rural Cambodia, this key project provides a safe boarding environment to 45 orphans at high school level. Since inception, Mekong Charity covers the ongoing running costs of the center including rent, wage of a dedicated tutor for the children as well as daily sustenance for the orphans.

During its establishment, Australian Relief Organisation provided funding to purchase the furniture and white goods for the complex. With orphan sponsorships collected from the Australian public, our organisation also provides financial support to needy children on a quarterly base.

Over the past two years, social impact of our initiative was remarkable. Thanks to a safe boarding environment where meals are also provided, students were able to attend public education, remained in health and excelled in their studies. Many resident students also gained access at universities, won scholarships at private universities and secured employment with extra skills gained.

Our Computer Lab Project

Primary objective of a computer lab project was to provide computer access to resident students under supervision, so they can improve their study research. A secondary and indirect benefit of this program will be the IT skills gained by resident orphans, in which will help them finding employment after their stay at the center.

To setup a computer lab for the orphanage, we delivered 19 laptops to the center in June 2018.  Laptops were delivered by a parent and student delegation from Amity College, Sydney during our 2018 Ramadan charity mission trip to Cambodia. While distributing food packs to locals, the charity mission group also travelled to Kampong Cham and personally delivered the laptops. We thank Amity College for their in-kind donation and engagement with our humanitarian program.
